Delicious Overkill: The Gratuitously Overclocked 5 Ghz Core i7 Monster [Computers]

Sometimes a computer at CES is interesting because it's functional and intuitive. Sometimes a computer is interesting because it's the size of an air conditioner, filled with heinously tacky neon lights, and overclocked to hell. Guess which one this is! More »

Audiovox to buy Klipsch, we can't help but worry

It's true. Audiovox, a relative no-name in terms of consumer end products in the music industry, has just signed a non-binding term sheet to purchase all of the shares of Klipsch Group and its worldwide subsidiaries. We're told that the transaction is subject to a number of contingencies, "including satisfactory completion of due diligence, negotiation and signing of definitive agreements and requisite approvals," but we can't imagine anything popping up to stop the inevitable. No hard financial terms were revealed, and there's no estimated closing date for the deal. Oddly enough, Klipsch was here at CES unveiling a smattering of new products, and Audiovox was also here showing off far, far less interesting gear. We're hoping and praying that Audiovox allows Klipsch to continue working as its own entity rather than swallowing 'em whole and stifling innovation with corporate bureaucracy (similar to how Disney lets ESPN run its own show), but we'll be honest -- we're feeling a little uneasy about it. Klipsch is definitely one of our favorite audio companies around, and the last thing we'd want is to see a good company get hit with an undue amount of heavy-handed corporate control. Here's hoping for the best!

P.S. - If you missed our Klipsch headquarters walkthrough from a year ago, feel free to have a peek.

Hands-on: Pinboard is a great Delicious alternative

So, Yahoo! went ahead and announced it doesn't like Delicious anymore. This is pretty much the dumbest move I've seen Yahoo! do in recent memory, and Delicious is going to fight for its survival outside of Yahoo!.

I really hope Delicious is going to make it, and I have every reason to believe it will. It's an incredible service, and one of the cornerstones of the Internet. Still, since I rely so heavily on Delicious, as soon as word got out about Yahoo! trying to kill it, I started looking for alternatives.

One of the most-hyped alternatives is called Pinboard, a paid service with an interesting pricing model: you pay a one-time fee determined by the current number of users * $0.001. This means the more users sign on, the more expensive it becomes. When I signed on a couple of days ago, the price was around $7. Now it's $8.65, and will probably keep rising.

Still, it's not a lot of money to pay for a safe home for all of my bookmarks, away from a big company that may make questionable decisions about a service critical to so many users.

But what did I get for my $7? I made a comprehensive gallery that you can see after the jump, and I'm going to walk you through it. Read on for the details!

This Shit Sucks: The Viera Connect Tablet [Video]

We love Panasonic. Their TVs are terrific—the best, even. Which is why I was pretty intrigued by their companion Viera tablet. It could have made watching TV more fun, or easier, or something. But it's unnecessary. And awful. More »

Android Honeycomb's Google Talk video calling shown off by T-Mobile

Android Honeycomb is getting plenty of time in the spotlight this week, what with all the tablets on display at CES 2011. One feature we're particularly excited about is support for video calling in the Google Talk app -- which T-Mobile has graciously demonstrated and posted to YouTube. Check out the brief video after the break for a sneak peek -- which includes a glimpse of the Talk app's tablet interface.

We took a little artistic license with the header image -- so that we could show you the UI and video window in one tidy little package.

Activate specific windows in Windows 7 with a taskbar keyboard shortcut

This week, we're running a series of keyboard tips and tricks that help you make the most of Windows 7. To see the previous tips, check our Tips index.

The Windows 7 taskbar has large, chunky icons. They're easy to hit with the mouse, but what's nicer still is that they're easy to count. You can easily see what's the third icon, for example, and so, hitting Win+3 would be like clicking that icon. That means if the application isn't running yet, Win+3 is going to run it; and if it already is running, Win+3 will switch between all open instances of that application, and even pop up a neat Aero Peek pane next to the taskbar, showing you thumbnails of all of the instances you're switching between. If have a few apps pinned to your taskbar and don't switch their order very often, very soon you'll know their numbers by heart, and using Win+Number could become second nature.

Come back tomorrow for the next keyboard tip, or, if you'd like to read a whole bunch at once, check out Sebastian's epic list.
